Now I want to stress once more that I'm aware Slenderman is a fictional creation in the same sense as many other horror film/game/book characters. With that obligatory statement out of the way hopefully this example is evident of the fact that readers/watchers can suggest ANYTHING they firmly believe is paranormal and it still has a good chance of getting due thought and attention.
That leprechaun legend is not too whimsical to suggest.
You should absolutely let me know about that ritual you believe is too dangerous.
That technique for communicating with the dead you heard about? Tell me.
Doesnt matter if youre a history professor suggesting a grimoire to me or if youre 14 and letting me know about some Halloween game you overheard after class.

Moving on to a possible experiment for tomorrow night. Scrying. 'Black Mirror Scrying' to be exact. There are lots of different takes on this one. LOTS. At least as many different incarnations as Bloody Mary for example. Most of the differences lie in the way you enchant or consecrate the mirror to give it the power to show you the future in some way.
If I dont find a better suggestion from the thread I'll be making soon then I'll likely go with a black mirror experiment of some sort.
I want to go ahead and mention another interesting experiment I read about recently.
I was flipping through Volume 1 of Man, Myth, and Magic. When I was reading through the section on Africa I came across a ritual that sounded interesting for whenever I get the funds to make a trip to Africa. The ritual is as follows:
Cut off the head of a snake and in it plant the seed of the swamp dock. Bury the head in a grave which must be seven days old. Pour water on it for three consecutive nights. When the plant has grown to a height of three or four feet, go again to the graveyard and strip naked. Pull up the swamp dock and use it as a girdle. If anyone attempts to attack you, the girdle will become a snake that will bite your enemy.
Now this really interests me. I could go there, interview locals, (the book says the particular formula comes from northern Nigera) and attempt the experiment as well. I imagine I'd have to clarify a few things. For example it doesnt say if the grave must be a persons grave, a grave you dug for the snake then let sit for 7 days, etc. It would also be interesting to find a way to simulate a genuine "attack" from an "enemy". I can think of a few ways that arent much different than the "start a fight" homework scene in Fightclub but I'm sure there is a better way. It will take some thought.
..and the 37th Rule is dont screw with guys wearing swamp dock girdles. |
Another experiment popped in my head when I was reading about early alphabets and runes. I'll elaborate on that next time though. As always let me know your thoughts everyone!
